OK, I can’t sit here and count the weeks. This isn’t a sprint, this is a marathon. There will be ups, and downs. Life can be funny like that.
So…coming up on 5 days now that I’ve been primarily Paleo. My only deviations are my coffee cream and raw turbinado sugar. Oh bad girl you say…I say phooey…I get my ONE coffee a day. I used up to 4 a day….travel mug size..not large double doubles. Other than that, I’ve been paying better attention to what I’ve been shoving down my gullet. Result:
No measurable loss on the scale. 0.2 does NOT count…I’m sorry…that’s a good bowel movement. So, my WEIGHT has stayed the same. What HAS changed….I’m just starting to notice I don’t feel as “bloated”. I seem to still have some energy during the typical “3 pm crash”. The plumbing seems to be righting itself. Do I have the energy to run a marathon…oh hell no, but I’m not begging for a triple espresso at 3:30. I’ve also noticed some of my aches and pains have diminished. Case in point….several years ago I slipped and fell down some stairs landing on my right shoulder. This was before I qualified for OHIP, so I had to grin and bear it. Chances are good I separated my shoulder, and eventually it healed…for the most part. Every now and then it’ll start to ache, making it difficult to do much with my right arm without wincing like a wimp. Can’t sleep on that side either. For the last 3 weeks or so, it’s been aching HORRIBLY. Even going so far as moving down the back of my arm to my elbow. With a couple of advil in the morning and in the evening…nearly pain free. I know advil is an anti-inflammatory….guess why my shoulder joints were hurting…they where inflamed…what else has been known to cause inflammation? You got it…processed and refined carbs. Pastas, beans, legumes, whole grains that I’d been eating stay in “those guidelines”. Guess what I chucked out of the house this week.
So, maybe no down on the scale…but there sure was an “up” in my well being.
I say that’s pretty good. Even an improvement…and that’s what this is all about…a healthy ME.
